Andrew Goldie - Principal
Dear Families,
As we move into the final week of Term 3, I’d like to take a moment to highlight the importance of regular school attendance. Every day at school matters – not just for learning, but also for building friendships, developing routines, and making the most of the opportunities our school provides. When children attend consistently, they are better placed to achieve their best. Thank you for working with us to ensure your child is here, on time, and ready to learn each day.
This week we are also looking forward to our School Colour Fun Run, organised by our wonderful P&C. It promises to be a joyful and colourful celebration to round out the term, and I know our students are very excited! A big thank you to our P&C and volunteers who make events like this possible – your efforts create special memories for our children.
Next term, construction will begin on our exciting new development. The first stage will involve the removal of the old senior playground to make way for the new building. This modern facility will feature a Library (Resource Centre) on the ground floor, along with new offices and a conference room. The upper level will include three classrooms, and the building will also be fitted with a lift to ensure accessibility for all.
Once this stage is complete, the current library building will be removed and replaced with a brand-new multi-sport surface for our students to enjoy.
It’s a very exciting time for our school community, and we look forward to watching these new spaces take shape.
As we prepare for the two-week holiday break, I encourage everyone to take the time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. Term 4 will be a busy and rewarding one, filled with learning, events, and opportunities as we move towards the end of the school year.
I wish all of our families a safe and enjoyable holiday, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 4.
Thank you all for your support and commitment to our school community.
Andrew Goldie

From The Deputy Principal

Jason Day - Deputy Principal
Our “Morning Roar” is an important start to each school day. It provides students with a sense of routine, allows us to share daily messages, and set the tone for positive learning. To ensure this time runs smoothly and to give students the best possible start, we ask that parents remain outside of the hall during Morning Roar.
This expectation helps our students to focus, settle quickly, and build independence at the start of the day. It also ensures the space inside the hall is safe and comfortable for all students and staff. Parents are very welcome to say goodbye to their child before they enter the hall, and we thank you for supporting us by allowing students to participate fully without distraction.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue to make Morning Roar a positive and purposeful beginning to each school day.

End of Term 3 Update
It’s hard to believe that we are already nearing the end of Term 3! This term has been filled with great learning, growth, and new opportunities for both staff and students.
One of the highlights has been the continued focus on PLD (Promoting Literacy Development) across our classrooms. Teachers have been working hard to embed PLD routines and strategies into daily practice, ensuring our students are engaging with structured, evidence-based literacy learning from the very start of the day. It has been wonderful to see the impact this is having—students are building confidence, developing stronger foundations, and showing real enthusiasm for their reading, spelling, and writing.
Thank you to everyone for your commitment and energy in driving this work forward. The consistency of practice we are building together is making a real difference in the learning journey of our students.
As we head into the final term of the year, we encourage families to continue supporting their children by talking about books at home, encouraging daily reading, and celebrating the progress they are making.
Together, we are setting our students up for success, not just this year, but for years to come.
Thank you
Belinda Whittet

From The Head Of Special Education Services

Ms Rivett - HOSES
We are over half way through the year and I am proud of the teaching and learning I see every day in classrooms and in the playground.
At Leichhardt State School, we support a diverse range of students who face challenges in the classroom and within a school context. At school, we know that children with diverse needs thrive when expectations are clear, consistent, with as little room for confusion as possible. This means using predictable routines, clear rules, and visual supports to guide learning and social interactions.
Our teachers and support staff work together to build on each child’s strengths while supporting their challenges. We welcome your input on how to support your child. By working together, we can create an environment where children with diverse needs feel safe, understood, and empowered to do their very best.

Welcome To Our School Social Worker

Mr Iggi - Social Worker
Hello Leichhardt Families,
I’m Mr Iggi, the Social Worker here at school (Tuesdays & Fridays). Each fortnight, I’ll share a quick tip or resource to support your child’s wellbeing and help make family life a little smoother.
This fortnight’s tip: The Power of a Bedtime Routine
Children thrive on predictability. A simple bedtime routine—like a bath, story, and quiet chat—helps kids settle, sleep better, and wake up ready to learn and play. Good sleep is like “brain fuel” for focus, friendships, and resilience. What is your bedtime routine?
For more helpful strategies, check out the link below, Raising Children Network resource:
See you around the school!
Happy Days,
Mr Iggi

Colouring-In Competition Winners!
A huge congratulations to our winners of the recent colouring-in competition! Your creativity and effort truly shone through, and we are so proud of the wonderful entries we received from all students.
Our winners will each receive two tickets to Seussical the Musical Jnr – an exciting reward for their fantastic work. Well done to everyone who entered and brightened our school with colour!

From The Teachers
Year 6
Year 6 wrapped up the term with plenty to celebrate. Students enjoyed a memorable language excursion to Queen’s Park, exploring culture and language in a beautiful setting.
In English, the class completed their end-of-term vlogs, showcasing impressive creativity and presentation skills. Maths lessons finished with a burst of fun as students designed and tested their own games—each one unique and clever.
Science was equally exciting: 6B built “houses on jelly” to test which structures could withstand shaking, linking perfectly to this term’s focus on natural disasters and earthquakes.

Celebration of Learning!
